Warisan Sarawak Live on Malaysia Hari Ini, TV3
Bandar Utama, Monday: The generous 30 minutes slot granted by TV3 on their morning show, Malaysia Hari Ini proved to be an event of colorful grace and pride as more than a dozen Sarawak natives decorated the piazza. Each in their own ethnic attire, they cheerfully strut their stuff much to the delight of bystanders. The fact that it was their first live feed on national TV, which could possibly turn ugly, did not stop them from carrying their passion on their sleeves (some don't even have sleeves!).
The mini showcase was conducted outdoors probably due to the considerable turnout, which goes to show that Sarawakians are darn proud of their culture and heritage, especially when they have the right attire, and moves of course. Needless to say, the morning air was highly refreshing!
The slot was an honorable gesture by TV3 to assist in the introduction of Persatuan Warisan Sarawak Kuala Lumpur to the thousands of Sarawakians in the Peninsular Malaysia. The huge number working outside their comfort zone brings many new challenges and Persatuan Warisan Sarawak is determined to bring them closer, building a strong network of pooled resources; an undoubtedly beneficial scenario regardless of the angle from which it is viewed.
Persatuan Warisan Sarawak is purely a social community network with various programs outlined in the coming months to address ongoing issues such as the slow disappearance of ethnic cultures, difficulty in securing a decent job in the city, and human capital awareness.
These facts were explained by the Chairman, Dr. Laurence John, the advisor Prof. Son Radu and the Hornbill Festival representative, Agustus Sapen, in an impromptu interview as the dancers provided the moving backdrop.
Persatuan Warisan Sarawak Kuala Lumpur would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the dancers, the crew and TV3 for this humbling experience. And to all, thanks for watching.
Enjoy the view!
